The IBE’s latest Ethics at Work survey found that employees around the world are increasingly concerned about the ethical implications of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The survey polled over 12,000 working adults across 16 countries, highlighting a workforce growing anxious about technology’s impact and a significant gap between these concerns and organisational preparedness.
The top concerns were the misuse of AI for unethical behaviour (48% concerned, with 25% "extremely concerned") and automated machines or AI replacing humans in the workplace (46% concerned, 24% "extremely concerned"). Whilst awareness of general standards of ethical conduct are high (71%), only 30% of employees globally are aware of dedicated AI ethics guidelines or standards in their organisation.
This briefing sets out how organisations should respond. It begins with some principles for ethical AI followed by a series of steps for implementation.
