Bullying and Harassment

People can only perform at their best if they are able to work in an environment which is free from any kind of intimidation or harassment. In small and medium-sized businesses, the personality of the owner/manager and strong leadership skills play an important role in shaping the organisational culture. However, it is important to make sure that everyone’s opinions and contributions are valued and that nobody feels bullied or harassed for having a different view.

It’s also important to encourage your staff to put themselves in other people’s shoes and try to look at things from different perspectives. For instance, the #metoo movement has recently brought attention to how women are approached and talked to in the workplace. Everyone needs to ensure that their behaviour is not perceived as disrespectful or as unwanted attention.
